Studio Policies

Lessons are now available online via ZOOM and in person!

Payments

You will receive an invoice via e-mail each month which will include your monthly bill and any late payment or recital fees. The monthly fee covers a regular month with 4 meetings. Any months with fewer or more than 4 lessons will be pro-rated. There is a late fee of $5.00 for each week past the indicated due date.

If you choose to withdraw from lessons during the school year, please provide Mrs. Erin with written notice of your intention to withdraw.  I must receive notice 30 days before the effective date of withdrawal, or else the student will be held responsible for the next month's tuition.

Late payment arrangements in the condition of extreme hardship must be made one week prior to the due date indicated on your invoice. Hardship will be granted at the sole discretion of Erin Thompson on a case-by-case basis. The return of a check issued to Erin Thompson will result in a $25.00 returned check fee being placed on the account of the student for each returned check, no matter the reason.

Attendance

Attendance at all scheduled lessons is mandatory. All excused absences MUST be cleared with Erin Thompson 48 hours in advance via the Student Portal on MyMusicStaff, otherwise they will be considered unexcused, and the student forfeits the lesson time and payment for that lesson. School activities are excused, but only if cleared in advance. Sickness and emergencies are excused if Erin Thompson is notified by 9:00am on the date of the lesson by phone, email, or text. Please do not attend the lesson if you are ill.

Make up lessons will be scheduled for EXCUSED absences only and held at Erin Thompson's home as her schedule allows. Please visit the Student Portal on MyMusicStaff for more info on when these make up times are available.

Practice

We've all heard that practice makes perfect... It’s a requirement of all voice students to devote time to practice each week between lessons. You cannot grow as a vocalist if you only sing for 30 minutes in lesson each week. There is a section on the MyMusicStaff Student Portal on which the student can keep track of his or her own practice. While I do not require the students to keep a practice log, it could be a very useful tool. I ask that each student has a spiral notebook that he or she brings to lesson each week in which to take notes. This is also a good place for the student to write down any questions they may have for me at the next lesson.

Required Participation

Contests: All of my students who are members of public school choir are encouraged to participate in the TMEA All-State Choir auditions. All public school choir students are REQUIRED to perform a solo for Solo and Ensemble in the spring. These are great opportunities for students to learn self-discipline and to build good practice habits.

Recital: All students will be invited to perform in a voice recital at the end of the year. The recital is highly encouraged as a great opportunity for family and friends to see the student perform the music learned in lessons. Location and date to be determined.
